Promotion of your Events, Features/ Articles, Screenings, Projects, Web site.
We aim to use video and the Internet to raise awareness of environmental, social and economic problems we face and to transmit messages of positive projects working to help these problems.

Users can search our site to for Events, features, articles and projects. They can also add information to the site for others to find.

We're building strong links with those sympathetic to our aims in the mainstream and try to help video and Internet activists to reach as wide an audience as possible. top -

Putting partners in touch with each other.
BeyondTV.org aims to be a meeting point for independent film makers and screening partners, as well as volunteers with media experience and campaign groups who can benefit from a bit of media know-how.

This will be done on a personal level but also encouraged through the use of the Beyond TV database, a listing of campaigns and media partners with social aims.

What we aren't :
While there is little point denying that we are fully functional and immensely powerful, we do not wish to give a false impression of our abilities.

Promotion of your Events, Features/ Articles, Projects, Web site.

We plan to have a good net presence before too long and to attract a significant amount of hits. Our aim is to promote Internet features of other groups and campaigns, their events, their projects and also their websites.

We link to our partner's websites whenever possible. We also include their web address on any relevant mail-outs about their group. By working together we can create an underground media network to rival that of corporate networks without access to a large promotional budget. The major difference is that we'll be doing it for the love not the money and there are a lot of people out there who appreciate that.

As such we need the help of other web sites that receive a good level of visitors to their site and who are prepared to link to internet pages that are promoting positive social change or environmental projects, from a reasonably prominent position on their site.

If you are interested in being an Internet partner then please join our maling list.
You'll receive a digest of new features on Beyond TV from our campaign partners and the URLs that the campaigns would like to promote.

Mailing list services to Partners

We have found emailing lists to be the most effective tool in the hands of Internet campaigners. This web site can be seen as a way of attracting web visitors that wouldn't normally be attracted to Campaign or pro-social change websites.

If campaign groups or other positive non-commercial partners need an advert-free mailing list, we'll be happy to provide that for them.

We encourage all our web visitors to keep up to date with the campaigns that most interest them by signing up to the mailing list of the relevant campaign but also the "intelligent" Beyond TV mailing list.

The Beyond TV mailing list allows you to receive information by selecting your own interests by category.

At the end of every email they receive from us is a Web address. Recipients can click on this URL and then revise their choices, suspend emails for periods when then cannot receive mail, or sign off the mailing list altogether.

Putting partners in touch with each other

One of the things we can see Beyondtv.org as being especially useful for is allowing individuals and groups who may not have heard of each other to work together. The way we plan to enable this is through the use of the on-line database.

This database serves to allow Beyond TV volunteers to work from wherever we are [which is just as well]. It also allows potential volunteers to search for a suitable campaign group or media group to work with.

This can work both ways. At undercurrents we would often get filmmakers who are interested in working with campaign groups and would like us to put them in contact. And there is also often a need from campaign groups to use video as part of the wider media campaign or to act as legal observers.

Unfortunately Undercurrents is no longer in a position to co-ordinate this kind of Video Network. We are looking to replace it with this kind of on-line database. It will also be extremely useful if are looking for films to screen or if you are looking for film festivals at which to show your work.

Also we aim to try to write our pages with an aim of involving as many as our readers as we can in positive projects. They can use our on-line database of projects as a valuable resource.

Encoding and hosting Video on the web

If you don't have access to a computer that can capture and encode Video into a format that can be viewed on the Internet then we can help you out.

Simply get in contact with us with details of the feature you would like to see on line and we'll work out the best way to get a copy of it from you.

Rather than operating as an encoding service we are keener to train partners to be able to encode and place media feature on the Internet or to put campaign partners in touch with local media partners that will be able to do this. However we recognise that this may not be possible or appropriate or be a valuable use of your time.

What we aren't

A professional archive - While we can provide campaign groups or underground/ non-commercial media/art projects with relevant footage where possible, We don't have the infrastructure to maintain an archive.

If you would like to purchase material featured on this website or similar material, we recommend you contact the Undercurrents Archive or the relevant filmmakers, directly.

A well-equipped resource group - We don't have a lot of resources and at the moment we are run on a fully volunteer basis [although we will be funding for full time positions]. We are keen to train relevant groups to use media and the Internet effectively rather than to taking on task for them.
