This page is an introduction to how to use the Beyondtv site. The site is designed to be a resource for Video activists to see where they can get hold of films for screenings and to network information about events and projects that may be linked to the same themes as Videos. In this way you can give our the URL of this site as a resource to find out more information when you are doing the screenings. Click here for more information about the "why" side of things. .

A Basic Overview of How to Input information.

We wanted to be more than just a database for Media features that you might want to show at screening nights. We wanted people who were interested in what they saw to be able to use this site as a first stop way of finding out about the groups involved.

Your mission - should you choose to accept it it to INPUT such information and make sure that it makes sense to people reading this site.
So Where do you start if you want to Input information into Beyondtv? Well you need to LOGIN and find the right Input forms. What follows is a summary of what type of information you might typically want to input.

Get the CONTACTS sorted first.
The whole system is designed so you only need to input PARTNER contact information once. Then you can link all relevant Features, Projects, and Events to this group - and you don't have to fill in all the details time and again [wow - I knew there was a reason for all that work!]

This is done by Logging in and selecting ADD NEW PARTNER//GROUP from the graphic which appears or the menu on the left.

You'll be faced with a whole heap of form boxes that should all make sense - fill in as many of them as you want to/ are able to. One important thing - Make sure you select the Type of Group - [Campaign, Media, Screening, etc] - otherwise it might not show up!

You are faced with a myriad of options when you submit your details.
You should link your entry to other relevant entries on the site
To do this - select the image tha you see above and find out the ID of the relevant entries or try to select the first name of the entry from the dropdown menu.
Pressing submit should link the entries in the database.

Now input some information/News/Video about the Group//Partner
Just adding the details of a group is great - but it's not really what the site is all about.
The next step is to input some information about the group in the form of latest news, especially if it's in the form of an on line video or audio report. You can't upload Video or Audio Files but you can upload them to Indymedia and then upload the link and how to get hold of the Feature to Beyond TV.
To do this you log in - and select ADD Feature.

Again fill in the forms as you like - but make sure you select the type of Feature correctly. If it's just Textual news select Text etc....

If you select Video or Audio - You are then asked if you would like to input details of where that Video or Audio is on-line. so if your video is available for download at http://www.yoursite/video/file.mov - this is when you enter that information

Other things you can do are to upload an image to go with the entry. And then link this entry to other entries on the site. This means that links will show up on the page. You can also add an email of someone else. If you do this they will be able to update the entry - They will also get send an email telling them that that has happened.
